Sugarfish to finally hit East Coast with New York City location

Sugarfish, a beloved West Coast omakase sushi shop, and its sister hand roll haven, KazuNori, are finally launching in the Big Apple.

In addition, the group will launch Sugarfish, a high quality, reasonably priced sushi chain, at 33 E. 20th St. this November. The two-story space is 1,600 square feet and will seat around 40 people.
Sugarfish launched in Marina del Rey, Calif., in 2008 with $30 omakase “trust me” menus — from Chef Kazunori, who ran the small high-end Sushi Nozawa in Studio City, Calif., from 1978 until 2012.
Kazunori and Greenberg source fish from around the world, including sea urchin uni from the coast of Southern California, and plan to add East Coast fish from Montauk, LI, to their Manhattan menu, sources say.
The East 28th Street space is 1,700 square feet. Jacqueline Klinger and Taryn Brandes of SCG Retail represented the tenant and Richard Skulnik and Lindsay Zegans of Ripco repped the landlord.
