Pet Supermarket is preparing to open what appears to be its 15th store in Northeast Florida.

The city is reviewing a permit application for JH Contractors Inc. to renovate 6,000 square feet of space at 6999 Merrill Road in Dames Pointe Plaza for Pet Supermarket at an estimated cost of $500,000.

It will lease in the eastern end unit where Dunkin’ anchors the western unit. UPS takes the middle space.

The Shopping Center Group Partner Stephanie McCullough and Senior Vice President Kelly Pulignano represented the landlord, Triarch Capital Group, in the lease transaction.

Pet Supermarket has at least 14 locations in Jacksonville, Orange Park, St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fernandina Beach and Fruit Cove.

Dames Pointe Plaza, at northwest Merrill Road and Townsend Boulevard, is anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc.

Petsupermarket.com says the company, based in Sunrise, has more than 200 locations.
